Keisha
Franklin - Bellydance/Samba
Keisha's love affair with
movement began with street dance at the age of 8, but it wasn't
until 1993 that her real hip-hop and freestyle house education began
when she became an avid member of the underground scene. In 1999,
she started studying Oriental (the proper term for bellydance) with
some of the city's most elite instructors, learning various forms
from Turkish dance to classical Egyptian. She also became a lover
of Brazilian dance, studying samba from Rio and Bahia at length with
native Brazilian masters. She's also an active member and class
master of theatrical afro-house company Dance Warrior Project. Her
formal dance training was received at Mark Morris Dance Studios,
Alvin Ailey Extensions, Djoniba Dance Center, Embora Dance and
Wellness Center, Broadway Dance Center, Morocco's Casbah Dance
Studio, Serena Studios, and Black River Dance Performing Arts
Center. People are saying...Keisha was so supportive and a great
instructor. It felt like I was dancing with a long time friend.
